Most of us get nervous before an interview, no matter how many we have had! However, it does not have to be as terrifying an experience as you might believe. Below, I have written a few tips for overcoming job interview nerves and giving yourself the best chance over the competition.

Showing confidence is extremely important. Employers want to see that the applicant believes they can do the job, as well as have the required skills and experience. Confident employees make good staff members because they are usually trainable, and resourceful, with initiative and good leadership skills. These qualities will benefit the company in the future.

However, do not confuse confidence with arrogance. The exaggerated claims and boasting of an arrogant presentation has nothing to do with confidence, and is actually due to lack of self belief. True confidence has no need for exaggeration, and an arrogant interviewee is likely to do himself far more harm than good, so make sure your confidence is genuine.

There are a few simple things you can do before and during your interview which will build your confidence. If you follow these steps you will find that you will feel more confident when you are in front of the interviewer.

1. Research the company.

Find out as much as you can about the company by looking at their website or looking them up in a business directory. What particular skills and knowledge do you have that will be useful for them? How will you be of value to this company?

When you know the company 's function and philosophy, you will understand their needs and be able to present yourself as someone who can fulfil those needs. The employer will also be impressed by your interest and you are off to a good start. Your initiative will go down well with any interviewer.

2. Dress appropriately and professionally.

The clothes you wear give an instant impression of who you are, and they also have a psychological effect on you. Dress carelessly sloppily, and you will act carelessly and sloppily. Dress smartly and you will feel smart. Look good and you will feel good.

3. Check Your Posture

Make sure that you have a good posture when facing the interviewer. This doesn't mean you have to sit as though you have a rod up your back, but by sitting straight and not slouching you will not only be able to breathe more easily (which will enable you to relax), you will feel more confident. Your answers will then come out more freely and easily.

4. Make eye contact

Bear in mind that the interviewer is just another person, like you. Do not be afraid to look straight into his or her eyes during the interview.

One benefit of this is that you will be able to gauge the interviewer 's feelings. You will be able to tell if he is interested in what you are saying, or whether he is getting bored.

On the other hand, don't stare or make eye contact all the time. This could come across as confrontational and scary! On the other end of the scale, avoiding eye contact completely could look as though you are hiding something. When you look into someone 's eyes as you give your answers they will be reassured that what you are saying is the truth.

5. Listen.

When we are nervous, we often make the mistake of listening to our own thoughts too much, and then answering the question that we thought we heard! When you actively listen to the interviewer, this has two benefits. Firstly, it will turn off the stuff going on inside your head, and secondly, you will be able to answer the correct question! This active listening will calm your nerves and make you feel more confident because you will understand exactly what is expected of you.

6. Make clear and direct answers.

If you have listened properly, you will be in the position to tell the interviewer exactly what he wants to know. Respond with straight and honest answers. If you waffle you will only show that you are not sure of yourself. Be brief and to the point. Offer appropriate information, but don't go off at a tangent, as you will lose focus and concentration. If you don't understand the question, don't try to bluff it; ask for clarification. Interviewers will respect you more for this.

7. Ask questions.

Before your interview, write down a few things you would like to know about the company. Showing an interest by asking questions is very beneficial. However, try not to just ask about things that only concern you, such as what is the starting salary, or what fringe benefits they give. Ask questions about how you can be of service to the company, perhaps how a particular skill of yours might be of use. By doing this, both of you will know whether you are right for the job.

If you follow these steps you will see your confidence increase and your nerves decrease. Above all, it is important that you believe that you are capable for the job. Without this self belief you will not appear confident to your interviewer, whatever you do.

While it may feel as if you are simply making a nuisance of yourself it is not a great problem, the representatives will understand your concerns and will most likely be impressed by your willingness to work.

In addition however, using modern forms of communication to bombard the agency representatives can be useful in remaining fresh in their minds.

b. Kelengkapan berkas :
1) Foto copy Ijazah dan transkip nilai yang dilegalisasi oleh pejabat yang berwenang dan untuk ijasah Perguruan Tinggi Luar Negeri harus mendapat pengesahan dari Ditjen DIKTI disertai dengan konversi IPK ke dalam skala 4 (Surat Keterangan Lulus tidak dapat digunakan untuk melamar)
2) Fotokopi KTP;
Seluruh berkas (a dan b) di atas dimasukkan ke dalam amplop berwarna coklat ukuran folio yang telah ditempel dengan alamat pengiriman surat, Nomor Pendaftaran dan Kualifikasi (barcode) sesuai ketentuan. (contoh terlampir)

D. JADUAL PELAKSANAAN
1. Registrasi online dimulai tanggal 6 s/d 10 Oktober 2008
2. Penerimaan Berkas Lamaran melalui PO BOX 3231 JKP 10032 yang dibuka mulai tanggal 7 Oktober 2008 dan ditutup tanggal 17 Oktober 2008
3. Pengumuman lolos Seleksi Administrasi mulai tanggal 9 s/d 28 Oktober 2008
4. Pengambilan Tanda Peserta Ujian yang telah disahkan:
a. Peserta ujian dan penempatan Jakarta dilaksanakan pada tanggal 11, 25 Oktober, 1 dan 2 November 2008;
b. Peserta ujian dan penempatan Bandung dilaksanakan pada tanggal 25 Oktober, 1 dan 2 November 2008;
c. Peserta ujian dan penempatan Medan, Makassar, Banjarmasin dan Yogyakarta dilaksanakan pada tanggal 1 dan 2 November 2008;
5. Pelaksanaan Ujian Tertulis akan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 8 November 2008.

F. PROSES SELEKSI
Seleksi menggunakan sistem gugur melalui beberapa tahapan, yaitu:
a. Seleksi Administrasi;
b. Ujian Tertulis;
c. - Tes Psikologi
- Wawancara bagi kualifikasi pendidikan S1/S2.

G. MATERI UJIAN TERTULIS :
1. Tes Pengetahuan Umum (TPU) meliputi: Bidang Ideologi, Politik, Ekonomi, Sosial dan Budaya, Hankam dan Hukum;
2. Tes Bakat Skolastik (TBS) meliputi : Kemampuan Verbal, Kuantitatif dan Penalaran;
3. Tes Substantif (TS), meliputi: ketrampilan yang berkaitan dengan kompentensi jabatan/pekerjaan.
4. Tes Bahasa Inggris (TBI)

H. KETENTUAN LAIN-LAIN
1. Perbandingan jumlah pelamar dan formasi yang tersedia adalah 1:30 per formasi jabatan yang dilamar;
2. Panitia tidak memproses setiap lamaran yang tidak memenuhi ketentuan yang ditetapkan oleh panitia;
3. Berkas lamaran tidak dikembalikan dan menjadi milik panitia untuk dimusnahkan;
4. Pelamar harus mencantumkan alamat e-mail yang benar dan masih berlaku;
5. Keputusan Panitia tidak dapat diganggu-gugat;
6. Lamaran yang disampaikan sebelum pengumuman ini dibuat, dinyatakan tidak berlaku;
7. Setiap pelamar yang memberikan informasi tidak benar akan dituntut sesuai ketentuan yang berlaku;
8. Pelamar yang mengundurkan diri setelah dinyatakan lulus dan diterima sebagai Calon Pegawai Negeri Sipil Departemen Perdagangan dapat dituntut sesuai dengan Peraturan Perundang-undangan yang berlaku tentang tindakan yang merugikan negara;

Berdasarkan Keputusan Menteri Pendidikan Nasional Nomor: 44085/A4/KP/2008 tanggal 3 September
2008  dan  hasil  rapat  teknis  kepegawaian  tanggal  8  s.d  10  September  2008,  Direktorat  Jenderal
Pendidikan Nonformal  dan  Informal  Jakarta,  serta UPT Balai Pengembangan Pendidikan Nonformal
dan Informal (BP-PNFI) Departemen Pendidikan Nasional akan menerima Calon Pegawai Negeri Sipil
sejumlah 25 orang, dengan rincian sebagaimana daftar terlampir:

I.  Persyaratan Pengangkatan CPNS

1.  Warga Negara Indonesia
2.  Berusia  serendah-rendahnya  18  tahun  dan  setinggi-tingginya  35  Tahun  pada  tanggal
1  Desember  2008  sesuai  dengan  tanggal  lahir  yang  tercantum  dalam  Ijazah/STTB  yang
dimiliki
3.  Foto Copy Ijazah/STTB yang telah dilegalisir oleh pejabat yang berwenang
4.  Surat Keterangan Catatan Kepolisian
5.  Surat Keterangan Sehat Jasmani dan Rohani dari Dokter
6.  Membuat  surat  pernyataan  tidak  pernah  dihukum,  tidak  pernah  diberhentikan  tidak  dengan
hormat  sebagai  Calon  Pegawai  Negeri  Sipil/Pegawai  Negeri  atau  Pegawai  Swasta,  tidak
berkedudukan sebagai CPNS/Pegawai Negeri, bersedia ditempatkan diseluruh wilayah RI atau
Negara lain, tidak menjadi pengurus dan atau anggota Partai Politik
7.  Surat penyataan tidak terikat kontrak kerja dengan instansi lain
8.  Khusus pelamar yang pada saat diangkat sebagai CPNS berusia 35 tahun lebih dan tidak lebih
dari 40  tahun pada saat 1 Desember 2008, harus melampirkan surat keputusan pengangkatan

Badan Koordinasi Penanaman Modal (BKPM) membuka kesempatan kepada lulusan Doktor (S3), Pasca Sarjana (S2), Sarjana (S1) dan Diploma (D3) Warga Negara Indonesia pria dan wanita untuk diangkat menjadi Calon Pegawai Negeri Sipil (CPNS) Golongan III dan II, dengan jurusan/kualifikasi pendidikan :

I. PERSYARATAN UMUM

1. Warga Negara Indonesia yang bertaqwa kepada Tuhan Yang Maha Esa, setia dan taat kepada Pancasila, UUD 1945, dan Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia.

2. Berkelakuan baik dan tidak pernah dihukum penjara atau kurungan berdasarkan putusan pengadilan yang memiliki kekuatan hukum tetap yang dibuktikan dengan Surat Keterangan Catatan Kepolisian.

3. Tidak dalam kedudukan sebagai pengurus/anggota Partai Politik.

4. Tidak pernah diberhentikan dengan hormat tidak atas permintaan sendiri atau tidak dengan hormat sebagai Pegawai Negeri Sipil (PNS)/Anggota TNI/Polri atau diberhentikan tidak dengan hormat sebagai pegawai swasta.

5. Tidak berkedudukan sebagai CPNS atau PNS dan tidak sedang terikat perjanjian/kontrak kerja dengan instansi lain.

6. Bersedia ditempatkan di seluruh wilayah Negara Republik Indonesia atau negara lain yang ditentukan oleh Pemerintah.

7. Sehat jasmani dan rohani.

II. PERSYARATAN KHUSUS

1. Pendidikan S3 : IPK minimum = 3,00 (tiga koma nol) skala Usia maksimum = 34 tahun (lahir 1 Oktober 1974 atau sesudahnya)
2. Pendidikan S2 : IPK minimum = 3,00 (tiga koma nol) skala 4 Usia maksimum = 34 tahun (lahir 1 Oktober 1974 atau sesudahnya)
3. Pendidikan S1 : IPK minimum = 3,00 (tiga koma nol) skala 4 Usia maksimum = 30 tahun (lahir 1 Oktober 1978 atau sesudahnya)
4. Pendidikan D3 : IPK minimum = 3,00 (tiga koma nol) skala 4 Usia maksimum = 27 tahun (lahir 1 Oktober 1981 atau sesudahnya)
5. Lulusan Perguruan Tinggi Negeri, Perguruan Tinggi Swasta atau Perguruan Tinggi luar negeri yang terakreditasi Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi.
6. Menguasai bahasa Inggris dengan baik (lisan dan tulisan) diutamakan bagi yang memiliki sertifikat TOEFL.
7. Bila diterima, bersedia mengikuti peraturan yang berlaku di BKPM.
8. Bila diterima, bersedia menandatangani surat pernyataan untuk tidak keluar dari BKPM minimal selama 5 (lima) tahun.

III. PERSYARATAN ADMINISTRASI

1. Bagi para pelamar yang memenuhi persyaratan di atas dapat mengirim surat lamaran.
2. Surat lamaran harus ditulis tangan dan ditandatangani sendiri (bermeterai Rp. 6.000,-) menggunakan tinta di atas kertas folio bergaris berhuruf latin dengan mencantumkan biodata antara lain nama, tempat/tanggal lahir, status (nikah/belum nikah/ janda/duda), alamat jelas yang mudah dihubungi dan nomor telepon/HP, ditujukan kepada :

1. Pada sudut kiri atas bagian depan amplop lamaran ditulis : jurusan/kualifikasi pendidikan.
2. Lampiran-lampiran yang disertakan dalam surat lamaran yaitu :

a. Daftar Riwayat Hidup terakhir.

b. Photo copy ijazah berikut transkrip nilai yang sudah dilegalisir (cap dan tanda tangan asli) oleh Dekan/Direktur Program atau Ditjen Dikti Depdiknas bagi lulusan Perguruan Tinggi Luar Negeri (Surat Keterangan Kelulusan/Ijazah Sementara dapat diterima, dengan syarat pelamar dapat menyertakan Surat Pernyataan dari Pimpinan Universitas yang menyatakan bahwa pihak Universitas sudah dapat mengeluarkan ijazah asli yang bersangkutan pada saat akan mengikuti tes tahap akhir yang dijadwalkan akan dilaksanakan pada akhir bulan Oktober 2008. Bagi pelamar yang tidak dapat menunjukkan ijazah asli, maka yang bersangkutan dinyatakan gugur dan tidak dapat mengikuti tes tahap akhir).

Catatan : bagi lulusan luar negeri yang memiliki transkrip nilai tidak berskala 4,00 harap melampirkan konversi transkrip nilai dengan skala 4,00 yang disahkan oleh Ditjen Dikti Depdiknas.

c. Pas Photo berwarna ukuran 4×6 sebanyak 5 (lima) lembar.

d. Berkelakuan baik dan tidak pernah dihukum penjara (kurungan) yang dibuktikan dengan Surat Keterangan Catatan Kepolisian (SKCK).

e. Photo copy Akte Kelahiran.

f. Photo copy Kartu Tanda Penduduk (KTP) yang masih berlaku.

g. Surat Keterangan Sehat dari dokter (terbaru).

h. Photo copy sertifikat pendidikan yang dimiliki (diutamakan sertifikat TOEFL).

i. Bagi yang mempunyai pengalaman kerja dapat menyertakan surat pengalaman bekerja berupa Surat Keputusan Kerja yang dikeluarkan oleh lembaga yang bersangkutan.

1. Surat lamaran harus sudah diterima Panitia Pengadaan CPNS BKPM T.A. 2008 (Panitia) paling lambat tanggal 10 Oktober 2008 jam 16.00 WIB.
2. Surat lamaran dapat dikirim melalui pos atau diserahkan langsung kepada Bagian Tata Usaha Lantai I Gedung BKPM.
3. Berkas lamaran yang tidak memenuhi persyaratan tersebut di atas tidak akan diproses.
4. Berkas lamaran yang diterima Panitia menjadi milik Panitia dan tidak dapat diminta kembali oleh pelamar.

IV. LAIN-LAIN

1. Panitia TIDAK MEMUNGUT BIAYA APAPUN dari pelamar.

2. BKPM tidak bertanggung jawab atas pungutan atau tawaran berupa apapun oleh oknum-oknum yang mengatasnamakan BKPM atau Panitia, sehingga pelamar diharapkan tidak melayani tawaran-tawaran untuk mempermudah penerimaan sebagai CPNS BKPM.

3. Lamaran yang dikirimkan kepada BKPM sebelum pengumuman ini dianggap tidak berlaku.

4. Informasi resmi yang terkait dengan seleksi CPNS BKPM 2008 hanya dapat dilihat pada website BKPM www.bkpm.go.id. Para pelamar disarankan untuk terus memantaunya.

5. Pelamar yang dipanggil adalah pelamar yang memenuhi persyaratan yang akan diproses lebih lanjut, apabila jumlah yang memenuhi syarat tersebut melebihi jumlah peserta yang ditentukan, maka Panitia akan memberlakukan sistem ranking berdasarkan data pada surat lamaran.

6. Pelamar yang lulus seleksi administratif dan berhak mengikuti ujian yang akan diadakan di Gedung BKPM Jakarta akan diumumkan melalui website BKPM (www.bkpm.go.id) direncanakan tanggal 14 Oktober 2008.

7. Pada saat ujian seleksi pelamar diwajibkan mengenakan pakaian rapih, sopan dan sepatu serta membawa pensil 2B asli, penghapus, rautan, alas tulis dan alat tulis lainnya.

8. Ujian tertulis meliputi materi Tes Pengetahuan Umum (TPU), Tes Bakat Skolastik (TBS) dan Tes Skala Kematangan (TSK), yang akan direncanakan pada tanggal 19 Oktober 2008.

9. Bagi pelamar yang lulus ujian diharuskan mengikuti Tes Potensi Akademik (TPA) dan Psikotes yang direncanakan pada 1 November 2008, Tes TOEFL yang direncanakan pada 3 November 2008 dan Wawancara yang direncanakan pada 4 November 2008.

10. Pengumuman pelamar yang dinyatakan lulus ujian, TPA, Psikotes, wawancara dan Tes TOEFL direncanakan tanggal 17 November 2008melalui website BKPM(www.bkpm.go.id).

11. Setelah diangkat menjadi CPNS tidak boleh minta pindah instansi/keluar dari PNS selama 5 (lima) tahun (dinyatakan dalam Surat Pernyataan bermeterai).

12. Bagi pelamar yang telah dinyatakan lulus hingga tahapan terakhir seleksi tetapi mengundurkan diri diwajibkan mengganti biaya yang telah dikeluarkan Panitia sebesar Rp. 10.000.000,- (sepuluh juta rupiah) yang dinyatakan dalam Surat Pernyataan bermeterai.

13. Seleksi dilakukan dengan sistem gugur, keputusan Panitia bersifat mutlak tidak dapat diganggu gugat.

14. Tidak diadakan surat menyurat untuk penerimaan CPNS ini.
